I was attempting to personalize my desktop with a unique look, but things didn’t go as planned! I changed it to a solid color only to discover the shades weren’t to my taste. Then, when I tried to revert back to images, it instantly returned to the default solid color. I can still use slideshows, but they display a small mosaic of the picture’s colors instead of clean text. Online suggestions recommend a full reinstall, but I’d rather avoid that. Also, my Windows is activated (something mentioned in other discussions). Thanks a lot for your help!

It seems unclear about the issue. You might need a screenshot or a photo of the monitor to help resolve it.
