This is my second attempt at construction, and this time nothing is powering on. No lights, fans, or anything. There was a light behind the power button on the casing, but it disappeared. The flash bios button operates when I press it on the motherboard; that’s the only light or “sign of activity” I’ve noticed. I was under the impression that the motherboard needed to be updated to a higher version for compatibility, but I was quite sure this wouldn’t be a problem initially. I performed the paper clip test on the PSU, it spun for about a second and then ceased. Any assistance?

Which specific PSU? That paper clip test is irrelevant with modern PSUs. Not even for its fan, as most now have zero RPM fans that don’t activate until reaching a certain temperature.
