Considering performance options for gaming: 1i5 11600K or 1i7 12700KF
Hello, I'm trying to figure out whether to stick with my i5 11600k or switch to the 12700kf. I'm considering selling my current PC and buying a new one. The upgrade would cost about 340€ more than setting up the i5. My GPU is a 3080ti, and I mainly use it for gaming at 1440p with 165Hz and VR. Would you think it's worth the change? Thanks!
Your i7-8086K is essentially a slightly slower model compared to the i5. I mainly play at 1440P with 144Hz and get decent results. Are there certain games that don’t perform well in you? If so, consider upgrading only if your system falls short of expectations.
It wouldn't make sense to upgrade. You're running at 1440P, which should be handled by the GPU, not the CPU. A higher resolution means more GPU workload.
Newer chips from Intel in the 8th generation or newer that support 6C/12T are likely to work well with 1440p in about 95% of games. Remember, the 10600K remains a solid option for gaming builds using the 30 series cards. The latest release hasn’t turned the 11600K into a slow or useless card; it should still deliver strong performance for most titles over the next couple of years.
