Considering an upgrade to a 5800x format
Hello! I’m looking for some thoughts on whether the upgrade is justified. With a 5800X priced around $330, many wonder if it’s worth it. I mainly use my PC for gaming and 3D modeling. Has anyone else had this experience? What do they think about the investment? Also, someone mentioned a 3800X with an MSI gaming build plus an X570 3600 with 32GB RAM and NVMe storage for boot speed around 280ms.
It boils down to whether spending $330 is worth the 10% to 20% performance increase. I went from 3700x to 5900x and I really enjoy it, but I feel like I got lucky with the new CPU boosts—around 5.3 easily.
This comes from someone who upgraded from a 5GHz 8700MHz to a 10.9GHz model. The performance boost is noticeable, particularly in gaming, with a substantial improvement even at 3070 MHz, especially in FPS and certain online titles.
The third generation really outperforms the second in every area. You’d definitely notice the difference.
I was thinking about upgrading to a 5600x resolution, though it doesn’t really make much sense at first glance. I wasn’t sure if there were any comparisons available between 3600 and 5600 fps. I didn’t find any random YouTube channels that would help, so I’m sticking to reliable sources. It seems like a boost of about 20% might be possible, which sounds reasonable. Still, it’s unclear if it’s worth the investment. Recording or streaming could see slight improvements, but overall it’s hard to say. My estimate is at least a 50% increase, which would definitely stand out. That would cost over $500, so maybe wait for the next generation of tech.
Do you think your gaming and modeling are limited by the CPU, and do you feel like you could use more power? Also, Zen4 is coming soon.
