I currently have a gtx 960 with 4GB of RAM, but later this year I might upgrade to a Rift and require more robust hardware. At the moment, I’ve purchased that card and want to use it as long as possible. My question is: would it make sense to run the 960 in SLI with a 970 or even a 980? Or would that be pointless? Could it work? Thanks for your time.

I'll wait for Pascal if you're considering an Nvidia card.

It might end up being a loss. If I were you, it would be better to use a single GPU instead. A mid-range model around 970 would suffice. For higher performance, go with 980ti. You might want to explore AMD options like 290x, 380s, or 390s, but keep in mind these are quite demanding. I think it’s a waste since many modern games don’t work well with SLI, and driver issues can arise. It’s not worth the trouble.
