I evaluate the OLED option based on its higher refresh rate and appealing display. My father recently purchased an OLED device and shared his enthusiasm for it. My intended scenarios include mainly using it on the go, with occasional desktop access. The games I plan to play are: Undertale/Deltarune, Half-Life 2, Black Mesa, Team Fortress 2 (desktop), Dead Cells, Hyper Light Drifter, One Shot, Shovel Knight, Celeste, Rogue Legacy 1 and 2. I have a few questions: Does the desktop version perform well? Is the battery life reliable for OLED models? Could an LCD alternative offer better value?

Screen refresh speed isn't important. The display looks amazing, that's what stands out. Uncertain about whether those games work well on the Deck. You'll need to check if they're officially verified. I own a 512 OLED, and it performs great. It handles Enshrouded, New World, and Palia smoothly. The battery lasts a few hours, then you just connect it like a phone. I also use it on a TV when my partner wants to play while we both enjoy Enshrouded or Palia. It's definitely a good investment for my family, letting her play alongside me while I focus on the game.

The battery capacity increased from 40Wh to 50Wh because the OLED screen became much thinner, enabling a thicker battery. The APU was also produced using a more efficient method, which means you'll extract even more power from it under the same game settings, frame rate, and limitations. The OLED SD is definitely a worthwhile investment if you plan to play for extended periods. The ROG Ally X appears to be the top choice for long sessions off the wall, offering at least 2 hours and significantly reducing TDP, potentially allowing up to 5 hours or more. I’m not sure about the OLED version, but you might also manage 3 to 5 hours.
