I think it's better than leaving it idle. Just sell it if you can. Make sure to refresh your bios beforehand, since the 400 chipset requires an update to support the 5000 series. It’s a one-way process, so after the update you won’t be able to run the 2000 series. Keep some extra cash on hand in case the update doesn’t go smoothly and you need to swap boards.
