You’re starting with Crucial Ballistix 8x2 16GB DDR4-3200 RAM and an ASRock B450 steel legend motherboard. You plan to boost your memory speed to 3600 MHz, possibly higher. To achieve this, you’ll need to follow a few steps: check compatibility, use overclocking tools, and monitor stability. Methods like MemTest86 or system monitoring software can help track performance changes. Be cautious with overclocking—ensure your CPU and motherboard support it before making adjustments.

According to common understanding, 3200MHz is considered optimal for Ryzen processors. Going beyond that might reduce performance due to the way the infinity fabric functions. The exact limit isn’t clear, but it’s worth noting. @TofuHaroto can assist further.

It's closer to 2933, though anything above is a risk and not assured. A better option might be around 3200. The IMC is weak, so try setting the SOC to 1.2 and DRAM to 1.4 to test performance limits.

Sure! I’m just getting started with RAM overclocking and could really use your guidance. Would it be helpful if we connected on Discord?

Certainly, but ensure the bios reflect the most recent version if needed.

It's listed in my profile but I'm unlikely to use it much. I mentioned setting the SOC to 1.2 and DRAM to 1.4. The performance gains will be minimal, but if you're still interested, proceed as described.

Stress test using memtest86 to ensure stability. Perform performance evaluation with Aida64 or Passmark performanceTest to confirm real benefits. RAM overclocking can be a major challenge and may not be worth it unless you enjoy long periods of tedious frustration. Honestly, I do it for a few masochistic reasons.

I might opt for my 3200 unit now. Could think about it later when upgrading to a 3700x.
