Thinking about what to do with your Maximius ix that broke, it's been in the cupboard for years. The issue started when I switched from water cooling to air cooling, and it ended up stuck between the RAM slots. Now only the outer slot is functional. I suspect some internal traces might have been damaged. The CPU was moved to a new machine and is working perfectly there. The memory sticks are fine, but if it only has one stick, I wonder if I should try to repair it or replace it.
What is the main issue here? It seems like something is broken and not reflowing will help. Maybe the CPU was slightly damaged.

It was a hero board. It wasn't the CPU, but it could still run at 5.2 even on another board. Msi gaming 7 placed it between slots 1 and 2, with slot 1 near the edge. I could just drop a big stick into it. What she said makes sense. There doesn’t seem to be much space between those slots, but I’m not sure.
