You’ll face challenges getting it back once you’ve activated it on Steam. It might be worth trying to buy it from the best seller if you manage to prove the key is still valid, though that seems unlikely. A Steam refund won’t apply since it wasn’t purchased through the platform. If it doesn’t work, you may have to accept the situation and play it if it functions for you. Be ready to wait a while—patches are probably coming soon, but not quickly. They might issue some updates for those who can’t get a refund, but only a minor help.
I've been playing it and I get decent frames, ofc there is still alot of fps drops but it's better than what others are getting. For me it never dips below 40 fps on 1440p. But yeah it's better to wait them to re-release it, I've been playing it in small bits as I want the best experience when it's fixed.
