I need to consider my PC setup carefully. With an Intel i7 4790k and RTX 3080, upgrading might be tough due to component limits. Switching to an AMD Ryzen 9 5900x could be a better path, but finding it is challenging. The Intel i9 10900k is another option, though it seems slower for gaming compared to the i9 10900k. Looking at AMD’s older Ryzen 9 models, they lag behind Intel’s newer offerings. Considering the pandemic and high demand, availability might be limited. My current game resolution is 3440x1440 at 144hz. What do you think about these options? Thanks!

I checked ten different sites at 5900x resolution and tried Click Buy. As soon as it showed availability, I proceeded. I’m focused on top results and will not settle for anything less than what I expect.

I found my way to the RTX 3080, yet it seems the Ryzen 9 might be even tougher to secure. Maybe Newegg will have a special sale soon, just like they do for the RTX models?

I recommend waiting before upgrading unless you intend to upgrade your monitor. A 4790k OCR should comfortably support 144fps at 1440p ultrawide.

Your 4790k only reaches up to 4.5ghz—it’s not doing much beyond that. Wish you were lucky if it could hit 4.8ghz!
