I've been thinking about getting a computer for a while, but I'm unsure if it's time yet. Right now, I feel like waiting is the best approach. Windows 10 might not be the ideal choice to hold off on. Would you prefer to wait for another release or build one now for the holidays using Windows 7 or 8?

You could create it and run it on Ubuntu or Linux for a short period.

Windows 7 assistance stops on the 14th of January, 2020, and Windows 8.1 coverage ends the 10th of January, 2023. Don’t stress about delays.

It seems the update to level 10 wasn't automatically granted for completing level 8.1. If it was supposed to be free, there should have been an immediate benefit. Why is there still a delay?

8.1 users receive a complimentary upgrade to version 10. Absolutely yes.

I haven't come across anything about this before. It would be great to get Microsoft's official confirmation. I checked online, but no results came up.

Certainly! This means the service is available without cost to anyone, regardless of their existing setup. It’s similar to upgrading your operating system on an old PC—you don’t need to purchase Windows 10 if you already have another OS installed.
