Hey everyone, I own an Intel i7 3770 with a base clock of 3.4 GHz and boost up to 3.8 GHz. I’m wondering if it’s worth overclocking. My current cooler is Intel, but I’m not sure if it can handle the extra heat. The model you mentioned is Intel E97379-001 CNDPD252K10 DTC-DAB09—any advice from folks with experience would be super helpful!
Stock coolers aren't meant for overclocking, though they might work at regular speeds—just noisy. Higher frequencies generate excessive heat. Also, 3770 isn't unlocked, so the only choice is BCLK OC. You're aware of that?
I increased the speed by editing the BIOS once and it functioned properly.
I'm not relying on a K series chip, though I should mention I don't play games or use it very often.
