I need a network interface (my motherboard doesn’t support Wi-Fi) but I’m not sure which brands are best. I asked for some guidance here. My present internet performance is usually between 100-110Mbps, reaching up to about 220Mbps when it’s running at its peak. I’m looking for something that can handle speeds higher than that—probably aiming for around 1Gbps or more so I won’t have to worry about upgrading soon. My current router is the Netgear XR500 Nighthawk Pro Gaming. I’m using my PC roughly 10 meters away from the router in a direct line of sight, but this will change later. Once set up properly, I’ll be about 5 meters away, with a wall and cabinet between the router and my computer, or almost directly above it one floor up (around 6 meters with a floor in between). With the router’s strength, neither setup should cause issues, but I still want a card that can support faster connections. I’m considering wired options since a wireless one isn’t an option right now. I have power-line adapters, but they’re outdated, slow (rated for 200Mbps), and I’ve already switched to fiber where speeds are around 40Mbps before. That suggests the problem might be with the local power lines. If someone more experienced disagrees, that’s just a guess. I’ve run speed tests several times in the last hour—once while using the internet and others while idle—and got results like 0.4Mbps, 0.6Mbps, 1.08Mbps, and 8Mbps (consistently around 16 Mbps upload). On my phone I measured 109Mbps and 60Mbps. The card I’m thinking of is this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01EX7KNUM/?...dp_it&th=1. It’s near the higher end of what I’d expect to pay (about £73.99, though I’d prefer under £50 if possible, but I’m open to around £75 if it’s worth it long-term or has useful features). If this isn’t a good value or there’s a better option, let me know!
