You can achieve a win of 10 by using both options; if the cost of win 8 is lower, select win 8 and then upgrade to win 10.

Consider a fresh setup after upgrading. Purchase the most affordable version of Windows 7 or 8 available, then upgrade to Windows 10.

The downside is that you'll have to go through more steps if your end goal is a clean install of Windows 10. There is no technical difference once you're done, though. 10 is 10. If it were me, and I wasn't saving much money with 8, I'd probably just wait for the 10 product key to arrive.

the windows 10 edition from my desktop originates from an ancient prebuilt model using a foxconn motherboard. i've added windows versions originally built for asus laptops onto msi motherboards.
