I'm currently running Windows 8.1, so I'm familiar with the Classic Shell. From what I've observed of Windows 10's start menu, I think people will keep making graphical changes for a while. I set up my Windows 8 to look similar to OSX Mavericks, so I'm not too worried about their mobile-style taskbar, windows, and buttons. I really don't want to do a clean install because I have around 600GB of games and only a 450GB monthly data limit (about 200GB used by others watching Netflix, hehe).

Remove the chipset, audio, and graphics drivers, then reinstall them after the upgrade. Did you skip this step?

Upgrading to Windows 10 means you should be aware that older titles such as Unity Black Flag 2, 3, etc., often crash every 15 minutes. Many games also experience random crashes on Windows 10. Try searching Google for your games to find updates or fixes.

Thanks for the notice, I'll check it out. Just a quick note—no Assassin's Creed titles on my PC, and I don't play any of them. Ubisoft games aren't my thing.

I didn't interfere with any drivers. I updated all of them after upgrading to make sure they functioned properly with W10, and I didn't encounter any problems during the driver updates.

It looks like you're considering a decision but are concerned about the download size. You mentioned wanting to avoid re-downloading 600GB of games.

You don’t need to install Windows 10 twice for a fresh setup after an upgrade. If you select Windows 10, obtain it via the Media Creation Tool at the bottom of this page: https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software.../windows10. Store it on a USB drive or CD, then use it during the upgrade. Once upgraded, you can reuse it for a clean installation. Just remember, downloading to a USB stick will format the device automatically.
