I've been using Windows 7 for a while now, and honestly, it's time to consider an upgrade. While Windows 10 is on the horizon, I'm wondering if moving to 8.1 would be beneficial right now.

No... Not really... Windows 10 is better, though Windows 8.1 feels a bit unexpected compared to Windows 7.

people shouldn't get a new OS till its proven that its not shit so waiting on 10 is going to be a while. 8.1 is a good OS that will give you a small performance boost over 7. I wouldn't pay full price for it though, look around.
