I've been using Windows 7 on my PC and haven't really felt the urge to switch to Windows 8, since it has worked well for me. The problems people have with Windows 8, like the Metro interface, have also been a bit disappointing. With rumors that Windows 9 is coming soon, I'm becoming more hesitant about paying for the upgrade to Windows 8. I'd appreciate hearing what others think—should I go ahead with it? LobotikaNZ

I faced a similar scenario but chose to wait until 9. The 8 didn’t feel like a good enough reason for an upgrade; if I were you, I’d just wait and purchase 9.

If Windows 7 meets your needs and you already own it, stick with it. Version 8 is mainly for those who are just starting or require development tools. I've been using Windows 8 for more than eight months without any issues. After installing Classic Start, it feels like a version of Windows 7.5. I wouldn't upgrade from 7 unless I had to pay extra, but I was building a new machine at the time.

If you're satisfied with Windows 7, upgrading isn't necessary. Still, version 8.1 can be useful once you adapt to its layout. If the interface doesn't suit you, there are ways to customize 8.1 to resemble Windows 7. I personally use Windows 7 at work and am content with it, while enjoying 8.1 at home without any problems.

They suggest it's likely 8.1. I think I would understand it better if I were you. It probably just updates Win8.1, making it easy to upgrade when needed.
