I own the T101-HA, essentially the Windows 10 variant of the same product with a slightly updated architecture. It has performed very well as a companion unit. The main issue with your particular model is that the underlying platform was a highly problematic design from Intel. From what I understand, the bootloader was implemented to reduce space, assuming it would fit in laptops or tablets, allowing OEMs to preload them with the proper configuration.

I would opt for SysVInit because of its extensive history and demonstrated stability, along with its widespread use which means many helpful references are available.
