Currently I have 16 gigabytes (8x2). Would it be better to purchase two additional drives for a total of 32 gigabytes? Your system specs include a Ryzen 9 5900X, RTX 4060, 16GB DDR4 at 3200MHz, and an MSI B550M PRO EDIT. Adding another 16GB would cost around $50 CAD.
It won't boost memory bandwidth since the board and CPU are only dual-channel. It will provide more capacity, but only you know if you need it.

It's unclear why you're being discouraged. More storage is often advised now because games are larger. Adding extra drives can be tricky if they don't fit the same timing as your current setup, though it usually works well with a close match.
