In short, hold off on upgrading. Windows 10 is currently in "Technical Preview," essentially an early alpha version. It tends to be fairly stable most of the time, though not always. Your setup and the software you run will affect how it performs. Some users face no problems, while others encounter significant issues. Only after seeing the Consumer Preview do you truly know what to expect. This will likely resemble a beta version for gamers. The main OS should be more reliable, with most features complete by then. For Windows 7 users, upgrading to Windows 10 will be free, but only if you do it within the first year after the release (note: it hasn't been released yet). You won’t gain any gaming advantages—frame rates won’t improve, and loading times won’t speed up. Your gaming experience should be similar or worse than what you have now. Most everyday users shouldn’t jump to Windows 10 TP at this stage. Only seasoned professionals or dedicated enthusiasts who grasp the risks should consider it. TL;DR: For a seamless, bug-free experience, stick with Windows 7 until the official consumer version arrives.
