Your HP 241 g1 has 2GB RAM which is fixed. Upgrading to Windows 10 might improve performance, but it depends on your workload. Running Windows 10 could make it snappier, though it might not fully utilize the extra RAM. Consider your typical tasks—if you need heavy multitasking or resource-intensive apps, 10 could help. Otherwise, sticking with 8.1 might be sufficient and safer. Consult a specialist for a tailored advice.

I’d prefer using Linux on a device with limited power.

my old laptop was always running Vista smoothly, it started quickly and everything loaded fast. applications opened instantly, browsing the web was smooth, and opening files felt just like before. when i switched to Windows 7 from Vista, it looked almost identical, similar to XP but better than 7.

I had trouble with Vista using my old Athlon II processor. There were many blue screens and the system ran very slowly.

I cannot suggest anyone move to Windows 10 unless they feel confident fixing issues and finding answers for unusual problems.
