You're facing a common issue with older Windows versions and limited system resources. The current build is 32-bit, which restricts it to about 3.9 GB of RAM usage, leaving only a small portion available for modern applications. If you switch to Windows 8.1 Pro, Microsoft offers a paid upgrade that includes a 64-bit version, allowing full access to the system's memory capacity. However, whether this change happens automatically depends on your settings and the install process. It’s worth checking the upgrade options during installation to ensure the right version is selected.
It hinges on how authentic you aim to appear. You might hold off a few months before upgrading to Win10 and then opt for a free upgrade to an older version. Based on your personal ethics, there are straightforward methods to obtain a free 8.1 or 7 edition online.
That's actually one of the reasons I want to buy Windows 8.1. I want a legitimate copy of Windows. That, coupled with the above issue, me liking 8.1 better than 7, some of my hardware (Corsair Vengeance K70 and Logitech T650) being optimized for 8.1 and the discount make this something I'm sure I want to do-if it fixes my current issue.
Paid upgrade, not a fresh install—similar to what Microsoft provided with Windows 8, you couldn’t jump from 32-bit to 64-bit. The process only functioned within the same bit range.
This refers to purchasing the digital version instead of a physical disc.
