Hello everyone, I've been considering upgrading my R5 3600 to a Zen 3 CPU, possibly a 5700X, because I'm handling more demanding tasks and sometimes it feels like the processor isn't keeping up. My work with Autodesk's Inventor and Blender has increased, and even on Windows it can slow down at times. Everything seems normal so far—no issues detected with the PC overall (I regularly check Task Manager and HWInfo). I'm also planning for the future, as I enjoy gaming and want to play at high settings on 1080p. I'm wondering if my current setup is sufficient or if upgrading would be wise. What CPU should I look into? My existing configuration includes: Mobo: ASUS TUF B550M Plus CPU: AMD Ryzen 3600 RAM: 32GB HyperX Fury CL16 3200MHz GPU: Sapphire NITRO+ 6650XT Drives: Samsung 970 EVO plus 250GB, Seagate Baracuda 2TB, 500GB PSU: Corsair TX850M
It won’t be a significant improvement, but it’s affordable. For demanding tasks, consider a 5900X, or for enhanced gaming, opt for a 5800X3D.
I’m trying to stay within a tighter budget and plan for the long haul. Buying the most powerful CPU isn’t an option—maybe a 5950X in a new X570 slot would be ideal.
From my perspective, I’d upgrade the CPU. The 5700X offers the best value, the 5600 is the most affordable option, the 5900X is ideal for heavy workflows, and the 5800X3D is top for gaming. For other tweaks, check if you’ve updated the latest BIOS, installed the newest chipset drivers from AMD (not Asus!), ensure XMP is enabled and Resizable BAR is active in the BIOS, verify your cooler choice, and confirm your SSDs have the latest firmware.
. Both XMP and ReBAR are active. I’m using an Arctic Liquid Freezer II 240, which already has the replacement sealing installed since my unit was impacted.
Remember that clearly. Regarding the rest: I have the newest bios displayed. Don't worry, I’m aware ASUS tends to update their sites infrequently

I have a card that closely matches your performance (5700XT ~= 6600XT) and the 3600 I upgraded from caused the 5700XT to slow down significantly when I was on 1440P... ... Yes, you should definitely upgrade your CPU. You could also improve your monitor and use the old one as a second screen. Having two monitors is excellent for work.
