Hey, if you're looking at similar CPUs at the same cost, which one fits best? You have an i5 8400 i3 9100f, Ryzen 3 3100, and your GPU is an 1650B.T. Let me know what you need!

I see your point about the 3100 being on a better platform and not limiting a GTX 1650. It would definitely be my top choice for upgrading from a 5600, 5700X or 5800X3D later. The i5 8400 outperforms the Ryzen 3 3100 in speed. The 3100 isn’t the 3300X. Latency across CCXs hurts gaming performance, and the i5 8400 avoids that problem. Also, 6c/6t usually matches 4c/8t in multi-core scenarios. With a GTX 1650, though, it won’t make a difference. For the person asking, they should pick the Ryzen 3 3100 for future upgrade possibilities. The old Intel options are pretty limited, but if you go with the Ryzen 3 3100, you can easily switch to a much stronger CPU later on and at a lower cost. If you still choose Intel, definitely opt for the i5 8400—it’s significantly faster than the i3 9100F and comes with an integrated GPU. But if you’re committed to Intel, go with it.

It was because I mistakenly shared some images of the 3100 versus the 8400f, but after rechecking the post I realized it wasn’t that way, so I made the changes.

The cost of those CPUs is generally around 4500, while the 3100 line is quite close. For better performance, consider using some used RAM modules (like hma42gu6afr8n) and setting the clock speed to 4000-4400. This should help with the cache issue. Also think about other components, your budget, and where you're located.

Choose a CPU that matches your GPU's capabilities and your system needs. For your 1650 4GB GDDR6, pairing it with an i3-9100F or Ryzen 5 3400G should work well for gaming and productivity. If you need more performance, consider upgrading to a higher-end processor.
