I received the parts list and plan to use my EVGA 850 G3 in the new build. Here’s what I gathered:

Your 8700k isn’t delivering what you expect. Adding two generations isn’t a major speed increase. Unless those extra cores are actually being utilized in your work, the improvement will seem modest.
Your system performs well, but for a better CPU you might consider an i9 9900k or i9 9900kf to cut costs. I think this change would be a significant step up if the original had an i3 or similar.

Coming from a 5GHz 8700K to a 10900K offers several advantages. First, memory performance improves significantly, especially with fast RAM which is crucial in CPU-constrained situations. Second, thermal management works better, even when running high temperatures on the 8700K. Third, refinement capabilities are enhanced, allowing higher clock speeds at lower voltages. In gaming, you often saw 80-95% CPU usage with a 3080, indicating it was nearing its limits; with the 10900K, this is much less common. Fourth, the overall experience runs smoother. Fifth, security updates have a smaller impact on performance. While the 8700K still has strengths, there are notable improvements. Upgrading isn't necessary unless you have the budget or want to prioritize a better GPU over these benefits.
It’s clearly a better option. It speeds things up and adds more processing power, though it doesn’t revolutionize the situation. It’s just a noticeable upgrade. (I recently switched from an i7-6700 to an i9-10850, which really boosted my gameplay in Cyberpunk, but that kind of impact wouldn’t happen if you began with an 8700k.)
It’s notable in titles such as Cyberpunk 2077 when ray tracing isn’t enabled on my 3080. Without it, the overclocked 8700k can hit 90%+ at 1440p, leaving the GPU struggling in the 70s. Switching to the 10900k eliminated that issue entirely. Of course, with Ray Tracing active, it’s less of a concern. If you’re on an AMD card or running CPU-heavy games alongside a fast GPU, you might notice some bottlenecks. Based on my experience moving from a 5700XT to a 3080, I realized I needed a more powerful CPU first, then assessed how it stacks up against expectations. That’s exactly what I did.
