Hello, your current setup with 3000MHz CL15 RAM offers solid performance. Many modern AAA games now push for 32GB, but your system is already capable of handling 16GB comfortably. Upgrading might not noticeably improve performance unless you're targeting extremely demanding titles. Consider it based on your specific games and future plans.

It varies based on your CPU model. Some can notice big improvements while others see little change. Your message mentions a 5800X3D with a large cache, but the benefits from faster RAM are minimal. You're using 32GB of similar components and still achieving consistent performance in games and simulations. If you think you need more, adding another 16GB of the same setup could help.

You'll also see a noticeable variation in system behavior thanks to the memory controller's enhanced memory interleaving. Overall game performance might not change much, but responsiveness and smoothness will improve. Edited January 12, 2023 by lotus10101

Upgrade your setup with more RAM to reduce disk swapping and enable dual-rank operations. You don’t need faster RAM; the 5800X3D already performs well with its cache, so the 5800X3D doesn’t gain much from additional memory.

Confirmed, the setup is feasible. It's not the quickest but not the slowest either, and these components are reasonably priced at the moment.

Aim for matching RAM across modules. Identical RAM types aren't mandatory, but compatibility is key. Use Thaiphoon Burner to identify your current RAM specs.

3200 kit with four sticks can be challenging; you're limited by the slowest sticks' speed. The 3200 cl16 model gives you the highest chance to push the slower ones up to that speed, unless you're very lucky and don't get the 3000 kit running at 3600. If both kits cost the same, go for the faster one.

The Report feature provides a more organized view of your RAM specifications. Your system uses SK Hynix AFR A-die modules. You can pair two identical modules for a total of four, enabling dual channel and dual rank performance. Alternatively, you may upgrade all your RAM for optimal compatibility; a 3200 CL16 is adequate. Options include 4x8GB or 2x16GB configurations, with room to add more 2x16GB units later.

Hynix remains solid even with complaints, it doesn’t overclock much but it’s sturdy enough to let you raise voltage slightly for better performance without constant concerns.
