The Xfinity service appears to be functioning correctly. You might consider purchasing the Nighthawk for backup or configuring it as an AP.

usually if there separate then its much easier to make configurations and upgrades on the router side and straight modems almost never go out you should do it if you can also performance can be increased overall.

They provided a single device that acts as a gateway, modem, and router. It often performs poorly, overheats, and causes problems. Xfinity also has hidden access points into your network, allowing them to adjust settings remotely—especially for users who aren’t familiar with the process. I use Xinfity 200/10 service myself. My own equipment includes an SB6141 modem and a Synology RT2600AC router. For the price, you’re paying $11 to $15 monthly for that gateway. If you buy your own, you skip the recurring cost.
