I recently purchased some PC parts and received rebates totaling around $50. The challenge is figuring out what to do with it before the deadline. Should I spend the money on games or use the rebates for upgrades? I have a 1080p 144hz monitor, a 3800x and 1660ti. If I upgraded to a 1440p 144hz model with a 5700xt display, it would cost about $720—still a decent upgrade with the features I need, and I’d still have around $670 after rebates. So I’m unsure what to choose. Could you help me decide? What should I do?

Take a game unless you lack an SSD. Then you should definitely get one.

Well, if you just received the parts, you should use them and check if they meet your expectations. Try out some games to see if your GPU can handle them at 1080p with 144hz. Games like PUBG, R6, LOL, and CSGO usually have high FPS (esports titles), but AAA games might not perform as well. If that's the case, consider upgrading.

I already have an SSD and a 1TB HDD, which felt like a good mix.
I got these items over the summer (around May) and have been using them heavily during the summer, mainly playing CS:GO surf and GTA 5. Since school started, I've slowed down but I'm thinking about trying the untitled goose game, which seems more relaxed and isn't too intense.
I don’t play many high-end AAA games right now.
I can handle 1080p at 144Hz, but I’ve been trying to resist the urge.
Now there’s a deadline, so thanks for your advice!

I'm wondering why the 3800X is the case. Do you earn income from computer work? I thought about a 3600 and B450, leaving funds for a GPU or monitor upgrade. It might be worth saving up for a 1440p display and a GPU, as you'll appreciate the bigger screen and improved resolution.

It was the sole option available in the store and it was discounted. I was looking for the 3700x, but only the 3800x was in stock.

Np, the approach is clear. If you really need 1440p, saving is wise. Otherwise, go for 1080p and have fun.

What amount of memory do you possess? It's a straightforward and affordable enhancement that significantly boosts performance across various applications, though you may need to invest a bit more.

Just grab a few games. $50 is way too much for the upgrades you're thinking about.

I possess a 16GB storage with a 3200mhz clock speed, reduced to 3000mhz for better stability.
