You have a gaming laptop MSI GE75 that you're satisfied with. The main issue is that you only have a 500 GB SSD while your 1 TB HDD is quite slow. You want to know which games fit on the SSD and which ones work better on the HDD.

what kinds of games are available?
the majority of games don't gain much advantage from using an ssd, aside from potentially quicker load times. if you play a game with many loading sections, an ssd could help, but most titles perform just as well on an hdd.

I own five Total War titles: Empire, Napoleon, Shogun 2, Rome 2, Attila and Cold Waters, and War on the Sea, all installed on an SSD. There are 249 GB of free space left. I'm considering adding more games but am unsure if reducing the available storage is acceptable for my laptop.

Maintain approximately 10% extra space for flexibility. Currently, half of the SSD's capacity is available without any problems during installation.

Any size that uses about 400GB of actual storage on the SSD is acceptable.

I would swap the HDD for a 1TB SSD.
The Crucial MX 500 costs around $90 and includes the spacer.
