Sorry for the lack of updates—had a mostly offline weekend. It’s more about a dedicated /boot partition than just a buffer. Most modern OSes, especially Linux and Windows, rely on a UEFI-flagged partition to launch. This setup guarantees Windows recognizes its own boot drive with its bootloader, and Linux does the same. (It doesn’t stop you from setting up GRUB to boot Windows as an alternative.) I prefer this arrangement—it keeps things organized, avoids unnecessary complexity, and didn’t need multiple disks.
