Hello everyone, I recently set up a new gaming rig at 1080p resolution. I plan to run it in ultra settings. My current Radeon R9 390 card, under light usage, only handles normal tasks smoothly—around 40 degrees. I’ve heard mixed reports; some say it idles at 60°C and that’s typical, while others mention performance drops under load. I’m currently playing a game at 720p with ultra settings and anti-aliasing, achieving about 60fps at around 70°C. There are occasional frame drops, so I’m considering overclocking to improve stability. My PSU is a Corsair TX750 V2, and I’m wondering if overclocking would help fix the minor frame drops. Also, is my PSU sufficient for this setup? The rest of my system includes an i5-3470, 16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM, and a 320GB SSD. I don’t have any optical drives and have several fans installed. Please share your thoughts, thank you for your help!

At 1010mhz the graphics should easily handle playing project cars in ultra at 1080p. I own a 290x and run it on ultra with steady 60fps at 1080p. I don’t think the GPU power is the issue—perhaps it’s something with the drivers?

I don’t think GPU power is the reason for the fps drops—perhaps driver problems? Thanks for your advice, bud. I just installed the card and updated the drivers; version is Crimson 15.12, driver version 9.14.10.01162. Appreciate any guidance you can offer.
