You're considering upgrading to the Vive Pro headset. It offers higher resolution (1440x1600 vs 1200x1080) and better comfort, which could be a good upgrade. The current price of $800 seems reasonable for such an improvement. Your thoughts on whether it's worth it are valid—many users find the benefits justify the cost. Let me know if you'd like more details!

I'm looking forward to the upcoming generation of headsets. Those that don't include the screen door effect. You're still covering the cost for the early adopters.

I’m sharing my experience with this Samsung Odyssey. It’s been a great choice—usually around $400 to $500. The screen and resolution match the Vive Pro. It works perfectly for Steam VR games and supports Oculus via third-party apps. Tracking is smooth, and the new Bluetooth dongle helps fix any issues. No more lighthouses or setup headaches; just plug in and start using it right away.

I own an Odyssey and a brand-new Vive. Because the Odyssey matches the Vive Pro’s settings, I think the extra resolution offered by HTC isn’t justified given the price they’re charging for the Vive Pro. I bought the Odyssey for DCS World and Elite, hoping it would improve readability, but it only boosts clarity by about 20%. That’s still insufficient for clear gauge reading. If you already have an original Vive, stick with it until we learn more about the Pimax 8K or the upcoming Gen 2 headsets.
