It varies based on your goals. The Freelancer leans toward cargo transport and some trade activities, whereas the Cutlass carries more weapons. People view it as a solid vessel for piracy due to its docking collar and tractor beam. There are also different versions of these ships, but they cost more.
The cutlass black offers solid cargo space, about 150 units lower than the freelancer's 168, which isn't a huge gap. I’d recommend going for the more affordable version and maybe opt for something more flexible since you haven’t chosen a role. It also leaves room for other offensive choices. Make sure to check the basic pack first—it’s a good standalone option—and consider skipping the extra $15 if you’re happy with the standard setup.
I would suggest Freelancer. It seems like it could generate good income thanks to its cargo capacity, and it looks appealing too.
Opt for a single seat until the larger planes become functional. My Taurus was frustrating to operate, so I stayed on the smaller ones. Mostly I go with Fighters since that’s what AC focuses on. I really like my M50 and think the Gladius can deliver solid power. I’m pretty sure the stats page is outdated and not always accurate.
It gets refreshed after each big sale or premiere, yet it doesn't really matter. Once the PU beta launches, the real balancing will begin and all the numbers will change drastically. Right now, when choosing ships, I go for those that suit the roles I want and that have a cool appearance. I try to avoid checking stats.
