It has a solid review but also covered Skyrim and Fallout, which I disliked too. You’re not focusing on any specific genre. I might suggest a few titles, though—I can’t pick randomly from the over 200 games I own.
They can be both new and older titles. The Tomb Raider series comes to mind, but I’m not a big fan of the latest versions compared to the originals. Still, they’re decent on their own. I tend to overlook the naming—maybe Mass Effect or Dragon Age Origins fit better. SW Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2 are also older classics.
Didnt play the past games either. Though after playing 3 I absolutely have to. It's so great.

Don’t have to go through old games to appreciate Witcher 3. Check out the character and monster glossary in-game. Witcher 3 works well with its combat system.
