I prefer Dark Souls as my top choice, though I’d skip Dark Souls II. The single-player feels okay but not great, and PvP is full of frustrating players and lag. I recommend starting with Dark Souls 1 and hold off until Dark Souls 3 drops on April 12th. I haven’t finished Metro Last Light yet, but the first one was enjoyable on tougher settings. Chivalry works well with friends. Garrys Mod is a solid pick if you’re into multiplayer. Shadow of Mordor offers a good experience but the story isn’t compelling. Dragons Dogma has a cool vibe but its travel system is questionable. Sleeping Dogs is fun but not my usual choice—try Terraria if you’re with others. Dying Light seems interesting, so I’m considering it. The rest are new to me and don’t stand out.
Your specifications are quite basic—$300 is a very budget option. Certain games might struggle to run smoothly on it.
