Hi everyone. I have a very old PC and want to upgrade. Don't want or trying to avoid spending much money on it, I'm from a 3rd world country so PC parts are expensive compared to the US/Canada/EU My current config is i7 4770 dont remember the motherboard 1tb HDD and a 240 SATA SSD 8gb ram ddr3 nvidia 760 Games that I play: League, Lethal Company, Hitman, F1 2023, Hades, CSGO, Minecraft, Overcooked 2, GTA V Games that I'd like to play: No Mans Sky and if possible (if my budget allows it basically) GTA VI. I play on 1080p and not planning on upgrading my monitor in the near future. My plan is to first upgrade everything BUT the GPU and in the coming months buy a used GPU from marketplace. My questions are Are the i5 12400f / AMD 5600 good enough? or should I go for AM5 with the AMD 7600? is it worth the double the price difference compared? (remember 3rd worldd) This is build that I put together and want to know your opinion. I5 12400F Asrock B660M Stock CPU cooler 2x16gb Vulcan ASUS TUF Alliance 3200Mhz 1TB M.2 Kingston 1TB NV3 6000MB/s NVMe PCIe Gen4 x4 SSD Corsair 750W 80 Plus Bronze CX750 <- overkill for my current config but plan to upgrade GPU in the near future and re use my case + some fans everything here would be around $500, no GPU what would be a similar config but for team read? Everything is moving fast ahead of GTA VI, so don’t count on it arriving soon. What country are you from? And do you have the full specs? If you need extra features, here’s some info: AM4 12400F offers better IPC but its clocks are terrible, so it still falls short compared to a 5600X. The 5600X is even faster, especially with an OC to 4.7-4.8GHz. Used AM4 CPUs and B450 boards are cheaper and perform better. The PSU isn’t great either, so consider a used RMA850X or similar for better value.
Are you looking for a tailored approach? I have a clear strategy, but outside of CSGO, Minecraft, and GTA, your games rely heavily on GPU power (except for the Mendoza map in Hitman, which will shift to CPU due to physics on the vineyard and flowerbeds). I’d suggest starting with a strong GPU and PSU first.
Argentina. I understand you think upgrading the GPU is the best choice, but my computer is having trouble running league, Discord, and Spotify together. When I look at Task Manager, it shows RAM and CPU as the issues. An 8GB DDR3 is costly, so rather than fixing things on the fly, I’d prefer to upgrade for everyday use and light gaming first, then save money and get a better GPU later.
ignore everything they're all Cessna APUs, but if you need any real performance from Em, you'll have to boost both CPU cores to 4.5-4.8 because of poor stock clocks. Pair that with DDR4 4400-4600 and an ideal DDR4 5000, you should switch to a 5600X instead of using something used or buying it from AliExpress. Compare prices between these options.
