I have a home network using an ISP-provided modem/router at [192.168.1.1] that broadcasts a Wi-Fi network. To improve connectivity and coverage in the basement, I connected it to a Cat5 cable leading to the basement, where it links to a D-Link switch (DGS-1008P) and then to a D-Link access point (D-Link DAP 2660) via Power over Ethernet. The AP is set to a different SSID than the modem/router and uses a static IP [192.168.1.2] with DHCP disabled, so devices get their IPs from the modem/router.

Would it make sense to use the same SSID for your AP as the modem/router? You might want to explore adding another switch and AP upstairs for better coverage. With so many APs and SSIDs nearby, close proximity can cause interference. Changing your AP to provide DHCP could simplify device assignment, but it depends on your needs. Let me know if you'd like guidance on any specific setup!

I appreciate understanding which AP I'm linking a device to, which is why I separated the SSIDs originally. It makes me consider sticking things as they are. Thanks for the input.
