Hello, my friend has a MSI X370 GAMING PRO carbon motherboard and is considering purchasing a new computer. He mentioned he plays very rarely, so I suggested upgrading his existing one instead. The board features a Ryzen 7 1700 CPU and a GTX 680 GPU. I recommended moving to a better Ryzen CPU and a 3070 Ti GPU. I asked for my advice on what to choose, also suggesting adding two 8 GB RAM modules—currently it has 16 GB, which can be upgraded to 32 GB. I wanted to know if a 3070 would work with this setup or if upgrading is not worthwhile at all.

Thing is, if your friend needs advice, he should be here sharing it. We don’t know for sure he’d appreciate any guidance from you or us, so it might just waste time. Then there’s the issue of not having the full picture about his PC or his goals. Every time we ask, you have to confirm with him, which could lead to misunderstandings. It’s unclear why he needs a new computer, or why a 3070 Ti upgrade seems unnecessary given how rarely he plays games. Ask him to join and post here if he’s looking for help.

The RX 6600 performs slightly better than the GTX1080 in older titles. For those who prefer Nvidia options, the RTX 3060 or 4060 offer a slight improvement.
