Consider upgrading your CPU or GPU to enhance performance.
Hey there! Based on your setup and goals, upgrading to an i7 10700k would likely offer a bigger boost for Cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p. Your current GTX 980 Ti is solid, but the CPU upgrade could be more impactful than moving to a newer GPU. Let me know if you want more details! Thanks!
The 4790K is a solid yet somewhat outdated processor. I’d recommend focusing on upgrading the graphics card first, and then consider refreshing the CPU later.
Keep your 4790k (if you haven’t already) and focus on upgrading the GPU. It’s still a solid CPU, and based on what we’ve seen from Ryzen 5000, it’s at least matching Intel. Unless reviews come out soon, you might want to skip the generation and move to the latest platform from AMD or Intel with DDR5 support.
I owned a 4770K with a 4.3ghz processor running at 980ti in 1440p resolution. It performed well in games back then, but after upgrading to a 1080ti later, it became too demanding for many open-world titles. A 3080 would be out of reach for this CPU in modern, demanding games. I’d wait for the next Ryzen release and hope better GPUs arrive soon. Basically, save some cash and hold off for a new setup.
