Hello, I previously purchased the i3 10100 with a gigabyte B460 board, hoping the 11th generation would support B460 for an easy upgrade. Now that Intel has disrupted this path (and RAM speeds are capped at 2666 MHz), I’m considering selling the current build for 220 USD. I’m thinking of getting either the R5 3500X with a B550 board or the I5 9600K with a Z390 board. Even though I have an RX 5500XT with 8GB RAM, I don’t mind PCIe 3 or 4 speeds since the difference isn’t significant. I also lack an NVMe SSD, though my SATA drive is sufficient. The prices are around 330 USD for the AMD build and 300 USD for the Intel build. I plan to overclock the CPU and RAM for better performance, which is why these options appeal to me. My existing Deepcool Gammaxx 200T should handle the cooling needs adequately. Should I proceed with this plan? Or do you have alternative suggestions or ideas?

Do you encounter issues with the 10100? Are there tasks it can't handle? If not, I wouldn't consider an upgrade. Even if you do, the Deepcool 200T won't impose much extra load for overclocking. It's a 120mm fan built into a 92mm heatsink.

Just checking out some options mainly since my system has a 3200mhz RAM. It’s a bit sad to only run at 2666 and lose performance, but it’s enjoyable to push it overclock.

Just for one purpose It’s fun to push the speed, but honestly the 10400 is the best option

Hello there, The Gammaxx 200T probably won<|pad|> a suitable cooling for those CPUs. For the 9600K it would be near the maximum with PL1 power draw. Once PL2 stock boost activates, overheating is likely. For the 3500x it offers more space for cooling, though it will still approach the limit. DeepCool Support
