2019 Build: x470 R7 2700x 64GB RAM RTX 2060 Noctua D15 Cooler 2021 Upgrade: x470 (Kept the MB) R9 5900x (Upgrade) 64 GB RAM RTX 3060 (Upgrade) Noctua D15 Cooler Query: Should I swap the X470 MB for an X570? Everything functions well with the X470 MB, yet the concern remains in my mind. What do experts suggest?
Most x470 motherboards had weaker VRMs than today's models. The 5900x would cause a lot of heat, possibly leading to failure or forcing the CPU to throttle. Switching to an x570 might be worth it unless you need extra PCIe 4.0 slots or dual PCIe X8 4.0 ports. B550 chipsets offer comparable VRMs, as they were designed a few years after the x570 launch, incorporating improved components. The main PCIe X16 slot remains PCIe 4.0 compatible, and the M.2 slot supports PCIe 4.0 X4 directly connected to the CPU, though it uses PCIe 3.0 lanes.
I adjusted the CPU a bit to 4.2 GHz, but idle temps stayed in the 30s and below at CB23—up to 81 is fine. I assume it’s not a big problem, so I’m wondering if upgrading the memory would help too. The x470 is performing well, no issues so far, and gaming is great. VM’s are running smoothly. It’s just a minor concern that keeps popping up... LOL

Description: Modern gaming laptop with impressive performance.
At 4.2GHz everything runs smoothly, I adjusted the RAM speed to 3000 Hz and the system stayed stable.
