Navigating Reddit feels like solving a puzzle. I own a Ryzen 9 processor, a GTX 2080 Super graphics card, and 32GB of RAM. I’m thinking about switching to Windows 11, but I’m unsure if it’s the right move. My main worry is whether all my games will work fine. I’ve heard AMD has had problems with Windows 11, and many of us prefer staying current. Rust and Rocket League are my top choices, especially Rust, since it uses more CPU and GPU resources than most games I play. Any advice would be appreciated. (Sorry if this wasn’t the right place—I didn’t realize if it should be in Gaming or Windows.)
We can't advise on what actions to take if you're not interested in updating due to your search or improvement goals. However, the AMD problems have been fixed as long as your BIOS, Windows 11, and chipset drivers are current. I've been using and playing games on Windows 11 since the fifth update and haven't experienced any issues. I updated for personal reasons, staying informed about Windows updates and troubleshooting. If you're not in that situation, a fresh OS might not suit you. 5800x/B550/3090
I don't suggest using Windows 11 on any device just yet. It might be wise to wait a few months until they fix more significant issues, as I think.
The problems with AMD made me hesitate to update on the first day.
I haven't faced any problems with rust or other games on Windows 11 yet. My Wi-Fi and Bluetooth cards have been tricky, even with a 3700x, X570 motherboard, and RTX 3070. I wouldn't upgrade unless my current setup meets the needs, as Windows 10 remains supported through 2025—no hurry there. I did an upgrade after needing to wipe my drives, but still encountered many bugs.
I've resolved the main issue about Rust. I might hold off until all promised features are available. Still, my impulsiveness means I want to check if I can play without problems even now.
If it ain't broke don't fix it. Just stay on W10 until 11 has something you need and you are sure it's fully stable.
