Hello!
I bought an ASUS ROG GL552VX about five months ago and was curious—can I safely overclock the GTX 950M to improve my gaming, especially for games like GTA 5? I also plan to play Witcher 3 soon and hope it runs smoothly at 1920x1080.

Is it okay to push the GPU beyond its normal speed just to get more frames per second? And will my laptop last at least three to three-and-a-half years with a boosted GPU?
Specs: i7-6700HQ 2.60Ghz, GTX 950M 2GB GDDR5, 16GB RAM.

I increased my 940MX's clock speed to 135mhz and memory speed to 200mhz using MSI afterburner, which resulted in a 5-8 fps boost. I didn't see a significant temperature rise, though it might have been a few degrees Celsius higher. As long as temperatures remain acceptable, you should be fine with the overclock. The cooling performance of your ROG should definitely be better than mine with the E5-575g.

Firewalp :
I increased my 940MX settings to 135MHz on the clock and 200MHz on memory using MSI afterburner, which resulted in a modest FPS boost of about 5-8 frames per second. There was no noticeable temperature rise, though it might have been a few degrees Celsius less. As long as your temperatures are within normal ranges, you should be fine with the overclock. I think your ROG's cooling system performs much better than mine's E5-575g.

Thanks for the response.
I've also attempted to overclock with MSI afterburner core and memory clocks, but didn't observe any meaningful improvement in gameplay. The FPS remained consistent across the games I played.
Tried adjusting the white ball speed by adding +135Mhz Core and +200Mhz Memory in MSI afterburner, which is an overclocking step—but no significant changes were seen.
