I just invested $170 in another 16GB of RAM, bringing my total to 32GB. Now I discovered that the Windows 7 Home version only supports 16GB of RAM. I’m really frustrated with Microsoft for these limitations. Ultimately, I need to upgrade. What options should I consider? Win 7 Premium, Win 8, or wait for Windows 10? Ideally, I’d prefer not to spend too much since I’ve already spent a lot on RAM.

You're right, doing some prep work would have helped. I aim for an 8.1 pro score.

I wouldn't wait for ten months since it won't be available until late 2015, right? I think you should give Win8 a try and see how it feels. I noticed it's being advertised in many places at lower prices compared to Win7 these days. Just wanted to double-check because I wasn't sure myself. Memory limits for the operating system aren't usually something people focus on when buying RAM. Don't be too critical.

Choosing Windows 8.1 would be the most sensible decision.

Even if you're unsure, it's still questionable. I was certain my system could handle it. It seems Microsoft aims for a smooth user experience. One shouldn't constantly fear software restricting hardware capabilities.

Discussing limits on RAM is essentially nonsense.
