I've been considering three CPUs: Ryzen 7 5700, Ryzen 7 5800x3d, and Ryzen 5 5600. If anyone has any suggestions, I'll check them out.
The 5800X3D is currently the top choice for gaming, yet alternatives can outperform the 2600 in many ways.
The platform you're referring to is likely based on Intel's Raptor chips and AMD's AM5, which can be costly. I mainly use my PC for gaming.
Discussions vary by location and local market conditions. Prices are likely to change quickly after Zen4 and the 13th generation launch, which is another consideration. Mid-range and budget CPUs from this generation won't be available until next year or more, so don’t expect affordable options soon. Right now, the most cost-effective choice is a cheaper B660 with an i3-12100F. For a bit more, you could opt for a B660 with an i5-12400F or a B550 paired with a Ryzen 5 5600 (nonx). You might achieve around 95% of the 5600’s performance by using it on your current board, but overall savings aren’t significant—swapping your old A320 and Ryzen 5 1500X into a new setup isn’t worth it. You’ll probably need better PCIe 4.0 support and improved I/O features on newer boards.
You'll likely need to upgrade your platform. Do you have a budget? The 13th generation supports Z690, making it feasible to obtain an older board with BIOS Flashback and simply update it. If feedback is positive for the 13600KF, it could be a good choice to jump into models like the MSI Z690-P, which is available in the US for $160. For the 5800X3D, a cooler would still be necessary. Hold off on decisions until reviews are in, but a modest setup of B550 plus a 5800X3D could still be viable if not.
