I'm planning to wait for the new am5 socket, so not gonna get a new setup asap. Currently my 9600k is pretty good but do really miss the hyperthreading boost. Is getting a i7-8700k a good move?

Bangladesh, prices are a bit steep lately—like a $250 part now costs $300. The 9700K has its hyperthreading turned off, and the 9900K feels like a waste of the savings I put into my AM5 build.

With an 8700k processor, it's more practical to hold off and use your existing CPU. Gaming won't noticeably boost performance.

Ensure at least 12c/24t with AM5 compatibility. You own an Asus Strix Z390-F board. Back in his day, if you weigh performance per watt against cost (new or refurbished) plus cooling, investing in AMD would be the smartest move.
