Currently we operate a tailored PFSense setup that handles the demands well. It supports both commercial and residential needs, including a restaurant, security, cameras, and more. You wonder why someone would switch if it functions so effectively? I’m the sole IT professional, while the rest of the team lacks technical expertise except one with basic knowledge. I’m also experiencing vision loss due to cataracts—this isn’t old, just unfortunate timing. The delay in elective surgeries caused by COVID has pushed my eye condition further. (Thanks for supporting my eyesight, Dad.) If issues arise, explaining PFSense will be challenging. Uninfi seems more intuitive and user-friendly, sometimes even completing tasks without clicking. Thoughts?
They might mess things up, but the best way forward is to bring in someone else.
I'm more used to that look, unfortunately. I was thinking about how easy it would be to control the device remotely, which would be useful if I needed to fix something by looking at the screen. Not the most polished way, but it works. Having another IT person would help, though nowadays it feels like hunting for a non-exploding power supply. Still, I'm not really familiar with the dependability or quirks of that unifi hardware.
It functions effectively, yet you must fully engage with their system to maximize its benefits.
