It really depends on your task. Can you clarify what you're trying to achieve?
Are there specific tasks that could gain from additional processing power?
Only slightly. Been use rpcs3 for ps3 emulation. My 3700x has been doing alright, but the better IPC and more cores should help out especially with the other applications i have runninging at the same time.. I know that ryzen 7000 will support avx 512 which is even better but I don't want to switch to am5 at this time as everything else is handle just. I just figure at such a good deal it would be a decent choice.
I switched from the R7 3700x to my R9 5900x... The performance gains weren’t noticeable for gaming, but they really helped with video editing and encoding. The additional cores made a big difference. I’m really happy with my 5900x.
Absolutely! The performance gains are clear, not just the core numbers. The IPC improvement is definitely noticeable, no matter what others say. Upgrading from 3600XT to 5600X made a huge difference—definitely worth it. Just keep in mind you’ll need a solid cooler to get the most out of it. BBQs and high BTUs are the way to go!
I had the same idea, just wanted to confirm. Regarding cooling, it's not a problem.
