Okay, can you let us know ALL your thoughts and info? I was working on ideas for upping your gaming, when you want to just go right to the super baller end. No, there is NO reason to go 3950X for gaming. Do it if you simply want to. All I got for ya.

It fits well within the "Sure, if you want to" group but goes beyond what’s needed for gaming. For gaming, aim for a solid core count (around 6 or 12) and a fast clock speed. Any extra features are just based on personal preference.

Consider how often you'll be handling extra cores. Daily use or earning at 3950x? Switching to Threadripper? Weekly work without income at 3700 or 3900x? I don’t see the point in the SKUs in between. Mix gaming with some productivity—3600.

3900x should be easily accessible, though 3700x seems more practical. 3900x remains reasonably available today, so if you believe it’s necessary, pursue it. 3950x is still considered rare. Using a tool like "Process Lasso" with 6 or 8 cores can boost performance by handling tasks on separate cores, reducing lag in games. The 2x CCD Ryzen (3900x/3950x) setup works well but Windows doesn’t optimize it automatically—worth the investment if you plan to play. For now, just ensure solid 3600 MHz RAM and a decent motherboard like the Asus Prime x570-P or TUF. This will help you upgrade later when Ryzen 4000 arrives, offering better gains for encoding work. Overall, it depends on your priorities: gaming speed or future-proofing.
